Bakerzin

Posted by Eat Cake Today on

Long before the spontaneous expansion of bakeries everywhere was Bakerzin, a Singapore-grown chain of cake shops that cater to those lusting after gourmet cakes at an affordable price. Previously named Baker’s Inn, this cake shop began as a humble patisserie back in 1998 that managed wholesale orders of baked goods to hotels and restaurants. Now, it has evolved into a boutique café with a chain of nine outlets around Singapore, and five in Jakarta.

With a steady success rate spanning over almost two decades, we delve further into what Bakerzin has to offer. Regulars of the café make it a habit to order the Strawberry Shortcake, Bakerzin’s signature dessert of an airy sponge cake with freshly whipped cream and layers of sweet strawberries. Chocolate Amer is another quality choice, a flourless sponge cake boasting decadent layers of chocolate mousse made with an exclusive house blend of Valrhona chocolate. For more chocolate, there’s Sweet Pleasure, a combination of delicate hazelnut dacquoise base layered with crunchy praline, Jivara ganache, chocolate Chantilly cream, topped with a thin layer of chocolate that will appease even the most discerning of palates. Fruit lovers can opt for the Mango Mousse, a light sponge cake filled with mango mousse and mango jelly, served with fresh seasonal berries.

While their cakes are delicious to the core, Bakerzin also serves up a mean array of flans, a type of dessert made of smooth, thick custard covered with caramel. The Apricot Flan is a refreshing afternoon companion, with its rum-flavored almond cream and fresh apricot slices, and the Lemon Flan, filled with lemon cream and a crisp and light meringue top, will bring a little zest into your day. For a little gift of sweet delights, there’s Bakerzin’s pre-packed macaron box, a selection of 7 flavored chewy meringue biscuits that are crisp on the outside with a deliciously soft consistency on the inside.
